Acting, no matter where you’d like to go, must begin at the beginning. Even if you have “the look” you must hone your acting skills in order to be taken seriously. Countless numbers of actors began on shows for the Disney Channel. But did they really begin there? Of course not. They began at the beginning… with acting workshops and classes.

Acting for Disney

Are there acting workshops near you? Of course there are and this site is a great resource for finding them and contacting them. You don’t have to be beautiful to make it either! Sure it helps but there are parts for every kind of young actor if they are good enough. And that’s the key, because if you’re good enough then many times they will find a place for you.

Maybe you’re not right for this part… but if you’re good then you’re right for some part and the producers will keep your headshot and put you to work elsewhere. As an acting teacher for actors on Broadway, local theatre productions and the ultra competitive High School for the Performing Arts acting program I have found that like anything else in life… practice is more important than almost anything else. But it also helps to be practicing the right things. And in acting those that have come before you know a lot and many times they are eager to learn from you. I have had kids go on to Circ de Soliel, UCLA Acting, Broadway, local productions of huge works and small works, The Utah Shakespeare Festival, and so many others. Each of them requires a great effort of skill, but each of them also reaches for something more than comes from within the actor. That part can’t be taught and when a producer sees it, he knows it.

Traveling the country in a one man show takes talent but it also takes a different mix than acting for Disney. Disney wants talent and they are willing to look at anyone. Their auditions may be short but they will take a look at anyone. There are countless open auditions for parts… scouting your look and your ability. If you’re not right for a lead, you might be right for a supporting role.

Everything is important and with Disney and all union television gigs the pay is great!
